NEW AEB Course - Sewing Basics

Summary of Course:
This course will enable learners to train on industrial sewing machines and overlockers, which will provide transferable skills within the fashion and textiles field. Learners will be taught several beginner friendly sewing and finishing techniques which will allow learners to progress onto hobby sewing or commercial sewing in industry. This also is a fantastic course for people wishing to study a fashion related degree with little prior experience aiming to gain some prior knowledge of industrial machines or anyone looking to up their ‘sewing mileage’.
What will I study?
The course is ideal for absolute beginners or those with some experience looking to widen their knowledge and skills looking to get a career within the fashion/textiles industry. Sessions will take place in our fashion and textiles suite and will provide access to specialist industry equipment. Full training and materials will be provided.
Techniques will include: flat open seams, facings, zip insertions, sewing curves, overlocking edges, hems. This course will also teach you basic machine skills such as changing needles, changing stitch lengths, changing machine feet, and threading up with a large focus on industrial machinery.
